Paws thundered against the lazy far away sounds of a storm brewing. They padded against Earthen soil as they made their way swiftly through trees and fallen logs, tongue lolling in a pink cape from dark lips, eyes sparkling with apparent happiness and giddy joy. That is until the wolf almost did a somersault in the air when her back limbs caught in a hole and had made her go flying through the air with enough speed to make a horse jealous. Though she really hadn't landed gently instead it was smack into her face as she saw it coming. Groaning from the pain, Hevyn lifted herself up but her wolven limbs were weak from the impact and gave way.
Her fur bristled in anger at herself and she attempted to get up again, This is impossible to do in this form. She whispered mentally and then could feel her insides rip out as she felt hot all over, a burning sensation taking over her entire body as her bones morphed and cracked, fur and flesh shifting into a naked, hairless human body. Once she had shifted, Hevyn flipped herself onto her back and sat up examining her ankle that had gotten caught in the hole. "Damn, this looks bad." Hevyn whimpered and then stifled a sting of tears, it wasn't from the pain but from the fact that she was actually looking at the wound---it's weird with her, she won't cry even if it's broken but when she looks at it that's when the water works start.
Wiping her cheeks briefly, Hevyn looked around her surroundings, she was chasing a butterfly and had been startled when thunder did it's dangerous dance with lightening. Hevyn wrinkled her human nose for a second, another reason why she hated shifting was because the senses dwindle compared to the inner kin. "Ok, let's look for Maiara." She pushed herself up with the little bit of regained strength and hobbled her way to the river, lucky for her she found a big T-shirt laying, strange but useful for her anyway. From the close proximity of the shirt she could smell that it had belonged to a man previous. Well where ever he is he's not going to see this for a while. Hevyn thought with a giggle.
A strand of black hair dropped into her vision and she didn't bother with fixing it, instead she just continued to hobble her way toward the river. Suddenly a pain shot up her leg and into her spine, "Ouch, shit!" She hopped on one foot but miscalculated the rock she just bumped into and toppled over onto her back, hitting a tree along her decent. "Just my luck." Hevyn whispered as she blew black hair from her face in a huffed agitation. "What else could possibly go wrong?" A sound of rolling thunder startled her and she almost shot up in a stand so quick, but she only managed to sit up and stare wildly around. "Not good, I take back what I said!" She yelped and started scrambling to stand up, but only failed in her attempt and toppled back down. "Oh damn it, it's going to rain, that or the lightening is going to cause a fire." She paused to catch her breath and looked helpless, "Not good." She whimpered again.
This just wasn't her day.

Steele came walking through his area with his mind thinking about many dfferent things. So many plans needed to be made, so many wolves had to be motivated, and so much blood would eventually be spilled. That part was his favorite and he couldnt help but give a loud laugh at such a picture in his mind. Broken bodies of canines begging for mercy or a quick death with him standing tall above them all. He would be merciful too and deliver these poor souls from their fate but he wouldn do it quickly. No these mutts would die slowly as he and his pack saw fit. Thunder sounded off and mingled with his jovial sound and gave it almost a maniacal tone.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw a bit of his beloved mint and quickly ran over to pull up a sprig. It was almost like a drug to him as it soothed both his mind without any ill side effects. As he munched away a strange scent came to his nostrils. He growled and set off. Here and there he noticed freshed pawprints as the breeze blew over the land carrying with it the scent of his quest as well as the tell tale signs of rain. A look of puzzlement came across his muzzle as the pawprints became footprints. So there was a "hairless one" around here. Well that relaxed him a bit and he allowed himself to slow his pace. After all what was a human going to do to him? No claws or fangs were big downfalls in his mind and one of the reasons why he stayed in fur most of the time. Plus he tended not to have clothes around all the time and people could be so uptight at the sight of a naked person.
When he approached the river he saw a female. She was not anyone he recognized but again his self confidence aided by his wolf form a bit brazen. So he walked up to the river at a spot about six feet to the woman's left. He lowered his head to act as if he was taking a drink but watched her out of the corner of his eyes. Was this a wolf of a different pack? It was quite gutsy to come into his territory regardless unless you were a member of Northern Pack and he had to admire her tenacity. For that he would stay calm and try to be a good host.
"Greetings." he said without lifting his head from the water.

Hevyn was trying her best to get back up from where she had fallen and was so angered at herself that when the other wolf had called to her in a welcome that made her human flesh prickle with what she had called "The Toad's Skin", Hevyn instinctively knew this wolf was of high rank; just by the way his wolf posture was, how his head was held high even if it was dipped low and the way the confidence rolled off his pink wolfish tongue. But she hadn't cared at the moment, she was busy trying to get herself up and out of her muddy situation and wash, then possibly find shelter from the stormy weather that already seemed to hex it's way into the island.
She had rolled herself onto her stomach and did a push up, her hurt ankle dangling limp as she did the action and pushed herself up that made her sit on her human hind limbs; the action in itself shot pain up her body when her small rump made a harsh contact with her injured ankle. After choking down the pain and a little bit of blood forming on the bottom of her lip, she looked at the other kin and smiled happily. "Greetings back fellow kin. Brave weather we have." Hevyn's smile looked a little pained as she felt another wave of shear agony and then couldn't help it anymore, she had to sit on her bottom before her leg could do any further damage to her nerves.
Her eyes lowered in a hesitant gesture, not sure where her rank was and didn't believe in such things anyway; hierarchy had never made sense to her even as a little pup. Hevyn lifted her eyes from the ground and slid her bottom on the same Earthen soil as the kin and stared him down---she noticed he had the deepest blue eyes of any calm ocean and also noticed the golden rays that radiated from his pupils, claiming him of kin. If she had looked closer she would have noticed the missing piece of his ear and wondered what it would look like when he shifted.
Silence drew closer than the storm's disgust and Hevyn just continued to stare at the coat and the face and found why she had always fancied to watch wolves sometimes. It wasn't like she always watched them, but she had always marveled at their muscles under the fur and the way they can be beautiful and deadly all in the same. Hevyn had a slow smiled spread across her features and she blurted out laughing. After recovering from her sudden burst of laughing, she wiped a tear and then strangled out the words, "Ha, ah...Well I must take my leave now."
Hevyn shifted again and turned back to her multi-mixed coat, the hues of grays, tans, creams, and blacks gleaming in the lightening ridden day. Her ankle didn't feel so hurt as before but that was probably because she was so focused on the other, making sure he wouldn't pounce and rip out her throat. Her eyes never faltered and she just moved backward then side-ways toward the river. Hevyn had been in close contact with other kin before and noticed that they were sometimes hostile and not well tempered; her last experience she was wondering how the hell she got out alive anyway.

What interesting words she used and, he hated to admit it, he found himself making sure to remember such terms for later. He always fancied himself a fine speaker but he liked how the words rolled off of her tongue. As she looked at him he returned the favor, sizing her up should the need arise while mostly planning his next move. Sure etiquette and protocol deemed that he should just chase this interloper off of his land. However times were changing, that was something he and a certain dark demoness were working towards he thought with a grin, and now new ways of handling things were required. What good would it do to scare away possible holders of key information, future allies, or some other useful wolf? No good especially if any of his enemies took advantage of such a mistake.
He watched her in silence for awhile and noticed something was amiss with her foot though he noticed no scent of blood. As she shifted to her furrier form she seemed relieved but Steele wasnt fooled to think that the pain had magically disappeared. Her coat was different than other's he had seen and he made sure to put that back in his memory as well. How much of a pain it was to be constantly storing this or that away for later yet he told himself that eternal vigilance would be rewarded. Lazily he acted like he hadnt noticed and walked slowly up the shore before plopping himself down in the cool grass. Certainly no one could take him for a threat right? Well if anyone knew the Alpha they knew he was always a threat but thats a story for another time.
"Tsk, tsk, dear lass." he said with a friendly grin on his muzzle being sure not to expose his teeth. That was a lesson learned when he had encountered another loner female, again a story for another time. "Certainly you arent going to walk on to my lands so carelessly and then run off without at least offering a kindly conversation. You are right this weather is a bit foul but I have always enjoyed the thunder and lightning even if it does bring that silly rain. Once that starts there is a small rock ledge over there that we can sit under. Might be safer than running off in such a storm as this." he stood once more as he finished and took a few steps towards the place he mentioned. It was a small cave that had formed by the lake eroding some of the shore. Moss had crept it's way in and covered the ground, making a suitably soft place to lay, and even a small tree was trying to make it's home there to add more shelter.

When he spoke she almost wanted to change back into her human form and kick him because it sounded so much like her brother and that was frightening to know; however, unlike her brother...He held this aura that meant to scream and thrash at her to warn her, he was Alpha and there was no denying such a claim. His wolf posture said it all and she wondered if she dared to meet his level, but maybe it was the thunder and lightening that had made her a little skittish because she didn't feel like comparing consequences yet.
Hevyn sat her furry bottom on the ground where she had stopped to listen to him and gave him a look that said, "Oh joy, lead me somewhere so you can rip my throat out, aye?" She glowered at him and if wolves had eyebrows, one brow would have been raised in a similar look to the Rock. But she calmed her feral instincts and closed her dark molten chocolate eyes for a brief moment, then opened them and raised her head as high as she dared. "I suppose I do owe you a conversation, but I am not so naive as to follow an Alpha into a possible death trap."
Her voice was calm and collected but ready to burst just like the thunder and it's roaring glory. How or why she trespassed into another kin's lands was sometimes beyond her, she would follow game and it would lead her to places she later on couldn't get out of. Hevyn did think that she could possibly get away with taunting this Alpha, he seemed to be in need of something dire for him not to have chased her away already. Or was that just her cow pie ridden luck?
Hevyn's tail swept in an awkward motion before lying next to her and curling slightly. Her posture was straight and she knew all too well that she was daring the other just from her body language. Really, in her paws, this situation couldn't have gotten any worse; he was dangerous and she was getting the vibe that he was as unreliable as that thunder roaring in intervals that spooked the living flesh out of her. She sighed but it turned out to be a puppy's yawn and Hevyn wrinkled her nose a little before baring her teeth. Which probably looked like she was threatening him but her ears weren't pulled back so she wasn't annoyed with him or anything.
"I'll keep you company until this storm passes. I do believe that my ankle won't carry me far." Her posture lazied and she got off her rump and slowly advanced on him, but not enough to close any gap. Her ankle throbbed and she had to bite her tongue to keep from howling in pain a couple of times. This was all done to her foolish attempts at running around and not walking around to explore the unexplored. Her problem was, that she'd always get too excited of different places and start running around like a young pup and taking in all the smells.
The only smell filling her nostrils was the nearing scent of rain mixed with mud and another scent...A very masculine one that reminded her she wasn't alone and that she should be cautious even if he seemed well mannered and polite. Hevyn was not naive enough to not understand brutes even if she rarely encountered them or females for that matter. She always prided herself for being a loner and had never understood the hierarchy of wolf life; why when there is so much land to be explored and venture in and run freely among other loners when faced. The brief memory made her give a wolfish grin as she could recall the many traveling scents that wafted from air and tangled in her fur; reminding her that she was never alone in her travels. Always knowing that there were some trustworthy loners to look for and be company of.
The many different scents, the way they all played and no one dared become leader for fear they'd turn out like them. The freedom it holds to nuzzle one another as if a real family and not just a fictitious one, and yet they could always go separate ways and still find one another. She loved the freedom her life style held and nothing would stop her from loosing that, not even death. Death...Well, at the mention of that word Hevyn became a little wary of her new companion. Wolves in packs normally believe in whatever the pack was made from, whatever morals that pack leader set and she wondered if her instincts were just acting up due to the thunder or was it something deeper. Hevyn eyed the companion and had a sick feeling that he was a wolf she called Grain. "I am Hevyn, just so that my companion does know my name while we are sheltered because that only seems right." Her eyes were still pinned on him, every move he made, every breath he took, every bristle of fur, every glance he made; she was watching him like a hawk and anticipated some sort of attack.
Maybe she was just paranoid.

He had to admire how this one thought and he couldnt help but be happy with the way he was perceived by the loner. Steele didnt want to be seen as a weak happy-go-lucky wolf who wouldnt hurt a flea even if it was bitng his backside. To be honest he had thought his reputation as being "the demon" had been beginning to fade. Well even if this one didnt know who he was she at least knew he was as deadly as any other beast around. With a slap of his tail he gave a grin and motioned towards the shelter he had mentionted before as a lightning bolt flashed close by followed by a very loud crash.
"You are indeed a wise lass, Hevyn, and a true pleasure to behold as you are one of the few smart ones I have had the good fortune to meet. If you wish why dont you go over there and wait for me. I am a bit hungry and will want something to eat while we talk." he took a few steps away from where the two were before looking back over his shoulder. "Please make yourself comfortable. You will be able to see the area in front of you so no need to worry that I may attack you without notice from the water." he chuckled and continued "And the rock above you will protect you from any rear attacks. See I think of everything." he grinned and walked off as the first few rain drops fell on his muzzle. He really didnt care either way if Hevyn took him up on his offer but if she was indeed there when he got back then they could 'chat'.
He growled as he made his way to a clearing near the lake. The rain had begun to pick up and he was starting to get a chill to the bone. Man he hated rain and the sooner he got back to the shelter the better. Prey animals had already begun darting to and fro so they could get out of the rain as well. A large Opossum had been woken from it's daytime nap by the storm and was waddling to a safe haven when Chaos caught sight of him. It was a slippery chase but he eventually cauht the little bugger. With it in his jowls he brought it back to the shelter and flopped down with it.
"My name is Steele by the way. Not sure if I mentioned that."

Hevyn watched him through eyes that were wary, paranoid and a bit too focused. When he had mentioned the rock and how there wouldn't be any attacks, Hevyn almost believed for a moment that he had actually read her mind or something silly like that. And that had shocked her expression cold and frozen; she was speechless while he ran off on his hunger hunt. Even what he said didn't settle well with her digestive system and she just hobbled her wolf-self toward the rock but stopped before entering the shelter it covered from the on pour that had suddenly started. Thunder and lightening would keep her under shelter for hours but rain...It was soothing to have oneself be washed by nature.
She closed her eyes and just stood there, with her hind quarter slightly dangling, leaving her other three limbs to firmly clutch the ground to keep her balance. Hevyn hadn't wanted to put more pressure on her wound, but the wound itself was vanishing in her mind...The pain was disappearing as the rain poured and continued to cry it's sorrows through bleeding clouds and screaming along with the thunder and pounding Mother with fists of fury and frustration. Hevyn opened her eyes slowly and sometimes the rain had made her sad because it was crying...It was made from tears on Mother and everyone seemed to have forgotten these tears as they wash away the blood that has been shed.
Her expression changed into something that was sorrowful and hurt all in one, and when she heard the nearing of paws, she looked through the tear-drops and noticed the lightly hued brute. His name...Steele. She dually noted the creature he had caught and was forgetting the rain and remembering his brute strength all over again. If he could kill a creature in under nothing flat, than it would be easy for him to---- Her thoughts stopped abruptly as she pictured Steele with his blue eyes constrict her of her thoughts with just one look and sneak around like a venomous snake, rising the fear from the pit of her stomach. A sinister grin on his wolf features as he eyed her throat and licked his chops.
Hevyn looked grimly out in space as she pictured this and it just slowly continued to repeat itself over and over as if a bad nightmare turned even more sour. A tear-drop smacked her good and Hevyn started realizing the rain was pouring even more than before and she yelped as she took a few more jolted steps into the shelter and shook off the droplets that had clung to her fur. Maybe it would be easier if I change to examine the wound. She thought about it for a moment and then glared at Steele. I'm not sure if I should trust him; what if when he sees the flesh of my human kin he'll be tempted to rip it apart and devour me whole!? Another grim look passed her expressions as she drifted off into a day dream, creating another nightmare, then she passed a grim look on Steele.
She swallowed hard and then tried gathering up her scattered courage and whispered almost inaudibly. "Steele...Uhh...I need to shift because I'd like to...Uhhm, see how bad my wound is.....Errmm...I'd much appreciate it if you wouldn't devour me." Her voice held a hopeless whimper as she closed her eyes waiting for a possible attack or something of that sort, that would be ridiculous, he wouldn't attack her just for nothing----would he? The questions started piling on one another and she started to become dizzy with so many life threatening possibilities that she felt the creeping of black unconsciousness creep along the sides of her mind. No, stay awake you idiot! Maybe he'll be nice and spare me!!!

It wasnt mind reading when it came to Steele assuming Hevyn's fear of him attacking her. After all only a foolish beast or newborn blind whelp didnt fear the canine that was he. Okay there were a few others, those that he would die for, like his most trusted pack mates and allies. Of course he was a fickle beast and his mood could change on a whim. He had learned early on that trust wasnt something one should give freely because you only end up allowing yourself to be bitten in the backside.
He ripped into his meal while the other enjoyed the rain. How silly that thought was to him. While he enjoyed mud, the oozy fun mud, he didnt like the rain that caused it. But there was at least the enjoyable chaos that was the thunder and lightning. As Hevyn came into the shelter and shook herself he couldnt help but lay his ears flat. Hadnt he done something just like that to another? Yes, well, the trickster never liked being tricked no matter that it wasnt intentional or malicious in nature. But he went back to his meal as he listened to his company. Inwardly he laughed to himself at her words. After all he owed her no allegiance or promise of no harm. But, lucky for her, it did inflate his already enlarged ego.
"I wouldnt be a very good host if I attacked a guest. Truthfully I dont know what I can say to promise you safety but I will tell you I wont hurt you." As if to show he was no threat he moved over a little bit to give her more room to change forms while he flopped on his side. Surely he couldnt be threatening as he put himself in a submissiv posture. To give her privacy he focused on the rain.
"Where did you hurt yourself? If you dont mind me asking of course." He tried to remember his manners though such lessons had never been big in his life. After all with a mother deemed insane and a father dead survival was a bigger concern than how to act around others and just what to say to them. Loners werent really mentioned in his pack either. They were considered strange bits of canine flesh who couldnt or wouldnt form to a pack's expectations. But they held useful information even if the former Alpha hadnt thought so.

Hevyn cleared her throat in a strangled sound as she almost choked back a fighting fit of laughter. Really, I don't feel comfortable around you even if there were miles upon miles of ocean and stark raving mad beasts. She thought as she glowered at him again, she felt her body shift, bones crackling, flesh molding, and there she was in her human kin form.
She didn't feel exposed and hadn't understood why he was giving her privacy there really wasn't appealing to look at anyway. To her the body of others never really stirred any interest and thus why she was never embarrassed to change into her naked human kin and walk around with nothing on as well. The constriction of human kin clothes was bothersome enough. Hevyn almost snorted as he turned his gaze onto the rain, she was either getting too cocky or maybe getting tired of stroking this beast's fear absorbing ego. Either way, it was making her lazy in her alert and that was a bit dangerous but not enough.
Her gaze went to her ankle, legs pulled up to keep the warmth inside as her sensitive human flesh prickled with bumps from the icy breath of the rain. "Really you don't have to be modest, I could care less if you looked or not. There is nothing to be ashamed of and nothing to be embarrassed of. If one were to think, all kin are technically naked and even if we change into twolegs and have no fur doesn't mean it's any different." Hevyn mumbled as she ran her slender fingers over the flesh that looked different as she noted it was swollen.
Good, I didn't break it. Her fingers continued to run over the wound lightly making sure it truly wasn't broken and that it was just sprained and needed a few days of relaxing and healing before she could go hunting for the right herbs to make. Another good reason for being a loner is that one can learn fast in an environment and how to survive that said environment. Hevyn looked up from her wound and hugged her legs while making a very human expression, something close to a fine mixture of courage, arrogance, and something else unknown but was along the lines of the other two.
"I doubt you'd be concerned...Really." She said as a matter-of-fact, and then sighed at herself and realized she really was becoming tired of pretending to be soaked in fear when all she can focus on was her swollen ankle and the pain it throbbed. "It's my ankle. And I am sorry for being rude." Hevyn huffed another sigh and looked away from his wolf figure to the on pour. Now she was wondering if she could be allowed permission to stay here for some time, to allow her ankle to heal and than use the supply of his territory to regain herself and move along. But wait...Would I owe him some sort of debt if that did happen? And what kind of debt would it be? .... Her eyes turned back onto him and a horrified looked spread across her features. What if it consists my life?! I don't want to be a slave!! I'd rather be eaten then be a slave!!!
Mentally she groaned at herself for thinking such ridiculous things and always wondered why the hell she kept on coming to idiotic conclusions sometimes. "Uh...Steele...I must ask one more thing." Her voice was timid and she stared at the dirt with half-lidded eyes, hoping he'd allow her permission to. "Can....Can I take use of just this area to heal my wound? I-I" She cut herself off briefly before staring at him again and finishing up, "I promise I'll just stay til I'm healed and then run off as if this never happened! So please!?" Wow I sound pathetic. But this is the only way...Otherwise I'd be some other wolf's dinner and personally at this moment I'd rather die of starvation in be someone's dinner. Another gruesome image flashed across her mind and she suppressed an expression of horror from rising up.
Oh how ridiculous I am...

Okay it was silly for Steele to turn away as she shifted but it was a strange bit of respect in his mind. Steele felt like being in human form and the act of shifting itself was when one was at the most vulnerable. It was almost like he was embarrassed for whoever was shifting as if they were lying on their back in a submissive pose with their tail between the legs. As for nakedness, well he hadnt really given it much thought more than the exposure issue. After all if one of the "kin" went hairless and without the protection of clothes they were prone to cold and other weather elements. Steele thought of fur like a form of clothing as it protected it's wearer even if one's more private areas were just as exposed. Yet it seemed something they just disagreed upon and not really a bit enough issue to quabble over. But maybe he could use it to see her thoughts on other things.
"I suppose the aversion of my eyes was simply a silly and unnecessary human reflex. I hope you dont think me rude." he turned his attention back to Hevyn and looked at her as if she was still in canine form. "It seems I havent gotten rid of all those habits as I would have liked. So silly."
He watched her attend to her ankle and out of a more primitive reflex licked his lips. After all he, like others of his kind, was taught early on that weak and injured beasts were the easiest prey. There was also some mumbo jumbo about it being good for the herd and such but that never made sense to him. If it fed his belly that was all that mattered. He turned away once more but this time out of preservation of his guest and not out of modesty or embarrassement.
The hair on the back of his neck ruffled a bit at her tone of voice. No one spoke to him in such a manner, especially since this was his lands. But there were so many sacrifices to be made to gain the upper paw. But he still couldnt change who he was as far as his personality went and he couldnt help but a little verbal jab at Hevyn.
"Well I suppose I could be a good bloke and let you stay here. As I said it is a nicely protected spot, plenty of fish, water, and prey of various sizes." he grinned and rolled over onto his stomach. "Or I could do the right thing to do, that being put you out of your misery. Surely you cant wont ever be the same as you once were and I might be doing you a service by simply snapping your neck here." He couldnt help but chuckle as he rolled back over onto his side. He scratched at his chin and gave her question some serious thought. Pros and cons weighed themselves in his mind as he tried to figure out if this wolfy was really worth her keep. Was she just going to be eating up food that should rightfully be his pack's without even offering a few words that might be of use to him? Good thing he considered himself a gambling pup.
"In all honesty and as much as you are willing to believe I will grant you the right to stay here. There is food and water aplenty, safety especially if you push a little further back in this shelter so that no one sees you, and it is fairly peaceful. I will inform those in my pack that you are not to be harmed unless you stray further into the territory." he added that last bit as a warning to her and a reassurance to himself that he hadnt gone soft in allowing her to stay.
"I will continue my honesty and let you know that I come here quite often. Perhaps we can chat while you heal. I wish I had someone to help in your recovery, I have many warriors but no medical mutts as of yet. I am hoping there might be such a learned beast roaming these woods looking for a place to call his or her own that would offer their talents to the Northern Pack." he hoped that his indirect question in regards to the abilities of the nearby loners would open up a bit more friendly conversation. Steele really could be a friendly kind of wolf once you got to know him and he knew you were on his side, it just took a while for him to allow himself to let his barbed wire fence of an attitude down.

Hevyn bit her tongue from saying anything further. She wasn't scared of him and maybe she should pretend to be while appearing to be frightened. Normally she probably would have been scared but at the moment the throbbing pain was distracting her fear and she would rather shove her foot up his bum. He wasn't annoying it was just she wasn't used to the hierarchy system, she hated it and never understood why those should subject themselves to fear another who could be just as weak as them. And yet they are too frightened to get a little beat up, maybe even near dieing and never knowing what if.
She bit her pink bottom lip, refraining herself from saying something crude and then smirk with her draw up legs, she cradled her shins with slightly tanned arms and almost snorted in a fit of laughter when he offered her to take her misery away. Really, take my misery away...Yea, sure, but you're not going to go any where near my neck. This piece of pelt is reserved for my brother, he's the only one who can take my last breath, and I won't allow some Alpha taking his chances of throat ripping from him. Hevyn might have turned a little grim at the moment but that was only because Steele had retorted on her...Even if she did start it.
Hevyn blew out a sigh not even trying to communicate back, she listened to him and noticed he was a nice wolf...Maybe not completely nice---more like a forced nice---but nice nonetheless. She suppressed a smile and then mumbled in her thighs as her forehead rested on her knees. "Us loners are all fairly trained in the art of healing. I know this injury will not cripple me, but if it had maybe I might have asked you to release me of my misery. But this injury is minor and will heal if I properly drink and eat. I must find plants as well." She mumbled and then blew out another sigh that had been suppressed too long.
Hevyn was not so dense as to realize that he was wondering about healers, obviously---like she had suspected before---he was in need of something and that was a likely reason as to why he hadn't driven her away. She slowly raised her face and rested her chin on her knees before saying, "You better watch out though, no loner will come willingly." Her tone was slightly mocking, and slightly daring, add a dash of challenge and you've got a restless Hevyn. She dared all she like, right at the moment she felt as though maybe a fight would distract her of her wound, or maybe it'll handicap her. Either way she flashed her teeth as if she were in wolf form and then bit her bottom lip. "They will most likely fight for their freedom and those who choose the path of packs are cowards."
Maybe with those last words this would be her undoing...Well all I've got to say if Steele gets mad, bring it on! Maybe I need a lesson on how an Alpha deals with delinquent loners. Show me. She was mentally laughing as her thoughts shifted and became running circles. No she wasn't crazy but the throbbing of the pain was making her seem that way.

If she wanted a fight than Steele was willing to give it to her. He stood up and his ears went out back reflexively as his lip curled back in a snarl. How dare she be in his homelands and speak to him like that? Obviously loners didnt have any manners or at least respect for their betters. No he had to learn to control his emotions as they just led to too much trouble. He had to stay calm while answering this disrespect towards him and his pack. Now that was going to be a challenge.
"Well you are right dear." he almost hissed through clenched teeth. "I am not going to go looking for inferior beasts to join my pack so they would have to come to me." He moved closer to her and flashed his tail back and fortn in aggitation.
"I dont see how pack wolves are any less brave than you loners. Seems to me that your kind of pup is lazy and undisciplined." Was this whole being nice thing really worth it? She hadnt given him any information that he could use, nevermnd the fact that he hadnt outright simply asked whatever it was he wanted to know. "If you would like me to prove my braver and battle prowess to you I will gladly. But in your current condition I cant see that it will be that difficult of a contest." With a grin he backed up without taking his eyes off of Hevyn. Steele figured she would jump for the bait and maybe even charge him. If not, well so be it but he wasnt going to be insulted by her and just sit like a puppy lump. Unsure of how she would react he continued to stand there, unwilling to give her even a small bit of an advantage even if she was just going to continue to attend to her ankle.
In some ways he had to admire the lifestyle wolves like her led. Simply going day to day without any cares, now that would be the life. Granted he had no clue what non-pack wolves went through on a daily basis. But when you have had a stereotype driven into your head since puppyhood you never really looked to find out the truth.

Hevyn bit her bottom lip to stop herself, she needed to slow down; she was beginning to loose her grip on a perfect chance for recovery and yet here she was belittling the other where she really had no right to. "Well, seems as though you are short-tempered." She remarked more to herself rather than to Steele, and then Hevyn sighed and stretched as she moved carefully onto her belly and then rolled herself on the dirt. It was more like mud where she was and that just caked her human flesh in a glop of brown before she stood up, making sure she wasn't putting too much weight on her injured ankle.
At this advantage she was much taller than he but she didn't show it at all, instead she walked away from where the shelter was and into the pour of rain, she crouched down and then leaped into a near by bush before calling out over her shoulder, "No need to get all worked up. But if you feel comfortable with me being here you can leave if you wish. I'm just going to look for herbs and don't worry, I shall only drink your waters but not sample your game."
She leaped into another bush and then stood up and started looking around. The only reason why she had covered herself in mud and started leaping about was so that Steele wouldn't feel too embarrassed by her complete lack of clothing. She wasn't mad at him but it was a tad bit fun making jokes out of him and he only foiled it by retorting back which made her giggle inside. "Ah!" She whispered her excitement when she noted a herb poking out at her, Hevyn plucked it and then continued her search. So I am only allowed around here, aye? Well, I suppose I should make due with----- "Ouch..." Hevyn had stopped and dropped onto her rump as she felt severe pain shock up her leg.
Hevyn sort of sighed, she hadn't wandered far from where the rock was her new home for now; and was wondering if Steele had left her already. Probably not, it wouldn't be expected of him to leave a loner too early in the game. She snorted lightly and then blew out another sigh, "Well, just a couple more of these lovely little things and I shall be able to heal faster in no time." She paused and thought for a moment, rain continued to drizzle on her human flesh creating goosebumps, but she hadn't noticed because she had already spent some time in the rain in this form. "Maybe on my way I could snatch a poor morsel as well..." Her right hand was covering her ankle while she closed her eyes and allowed the rain to wash away the mud.
"Hmm...This shall be an interesting couple of days---maybe I'll just spend some more time and pretend I'm still injured to take a look around----It's not like Steele's telepathic----is he?" Hevyn laughed at the idea and hadn't realized she was sitting on another herb, after awhile of collecting what she will need for the night; Hevyn returned to the shelter and hobbled her way inside with all sort of herbs against her chest with her arms wrapped around them. Her hair was drenched, her skin crawling with chills and her body just dirty from all the rummaging and attempting to run around.
She hadn't cared to notice if Steele was still around or not and just went to work on finding one big slab of rock and another smaller rock. Sitting down in front of the rocks she started crushing the herbs, mixing in new ones when the older ones were becoming nothing but a thick paste. Sweat started to mingle with the rain droplets on her skin and she had to brush back her hair several times. "Phew...I haven't done this in a while." With the back of her human hand she wiped away the sweat on her forehead. But her determination still shown in her eyes and she wasn't likely to give up, not now, and not ever.
((OOC: Sorry if it's getting boring...I'm trying to speed it up to make it interesting. *nods*))
